NXT (Episode 276) 5/6 Musings

If you are looking for a hold by hold re-cap, this isn’t it. Here’s how it works, I watch wrestling and record my thoughts, good or bad. I might not even get to who won the match or how.

If you missed last weeks episode you can catch up here.

Emma vs Charlotte

The show starts with a match right out of the gate. Emma still has Bayley’s headband from last week. Emma showed some aggressiveness here by knocking off Charlotte off the second turnbuckle and then focusing in on Charlotte’s leg. Emma controlled the majority of the match and Charlotte made a quick comeback and hit Natural Selection for the win.

Post-match Bayley makes her way to the ring to check on Emma. They hug but Bayley won’t let go and instead hits Emma with the Bayley-to-Belly. Charlotte holds Bayley back from doing any further damage to Emma.

Next up is a look at Becky Lynch with a video package.

Next up, Michael Cole talks with Kevin Owens in a pre-taped interview.

Bull Dempsey vs Rhyno

Really short match. They brawled for a short bit and then Rhyno hit a belly-to-belly and the GORE GORE GORE! I’m not sure what they are doing with Rhyno but I like it. Post-match Rhyno challenges Baron Corbin to a match at Takeover.

Sasha Banks is backstage and she hypes her match with Becky Lynch at Takeover.

William Regal has somebody in the office and they sign a contract. Then they cut to a promo package saying the guy is coming soon. I must have missed his name. Apparently this was Uhaa Nation. I’ve heard great things but he didn’t come off very well in the intro IMO.

Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder vs Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady

With a name like Dash Wilder, I’m shocked he’s not in TNA. Dawson & Wilder are put over by the announcers as country boys who love to fight and are great technical wrestlers.

Enzo & Cass’s theme music hits twice but no Enzo and Cass.

Backstage we see the end of a beatdown that Blake & Murphy put on Enzo and Cass so this one is a no contest.

Michael Cole interviews Sami Zayn in a pre-taped interview. Sami calls Kevin Owens a liar and says that he’s reached the point where he has to fight fire with fire against Owens. They also show highlights from Zayn’s match from RAW with John Cena. They pose the question about Sami’s injured shoulder and tease an update on next weeks show.

Becky Lynch-Sasha Banks Contract Signing

Becky cuts a babyface promo. Sasha Banks has her own giant stamp that she signs the contract with. Banks then roughs Lynch up a bit before Becky turns the table and taps out Banks.

They show the highlights last week of Kevin Owens powerbombing Alex Riley on the ring apron. Alex Riley cuts a pre-taped promo saying he’s out for knee surgery and he takes a shot at the fans and NXT on the way out. Riley says they won’t be seeing him for a while because that’s what the fans want.

Dana Brooke is backstage for a promo. Except for the gray hair she’s hot, but man she’s a bitch. Brooke says she has arrived and calls out Charlotte.

Hideo Itami vs Tyler Breeze

Finn Balor is ringside for the match.

Fun little match. Hideo is starting to get a little more comfortable and is also starting to show a little of his personality. They did a spot outside of the ring where Itami was trying to kick Breeze but he accidentally took out Balor. The action quickly went into the ring where Itami finished off Breeze.

Post-match Breeze attacks Tami from behind. Balor then gets Breeze off of Itami but then gets superkicked by Breeze as Tyler leaves them both laying in the ring as a takes a selfie with them in the background.
