NXT episode 283 musings: Joe vs Owens

If you are looking for a hold by hold re-cap, this isn’t it. Here’s how it works, I watch wrestling and record my thoughts, good or bad. I might not even get to who won the match or how but I will try. If you want to get caught up on NXT before reading, check out last weeks episode here.

Colin Cassady/Enzo Amore/Carmella vs Wesley Blake/Buddy Murphy/Alexa Bliss

This was a fun opener and was longer than anything on last weeks show. The men carried the weight in this one because, quite frankly, the women are very green. At one point Bliss looked like she got shaken up in the corner when she was standing on the apron and later in the match Carmella went and stood in the wrong corner after Bliss tagged out to one of her partners. Cassady didn’t get in much but looked strong when he was in. Cassady/Enzo/Carmella won the match.

Samoa Joe is interviewed backstage. Joe says he “just doesn’t like” Kevin Owens. Joe says he will beat down Owens unmercifully later in the show.

Next up is a long Finn Balor hype package.

Charlotte vs Cassidy

Charlotte pulled out the power of the cravate in this one. Cassidy got in a few moves early but this was a feature spot for Charlotte and a learning experience for Cassidy. Charlotte won by submission with the figure eight.

Dana Brooke is backstage and new flash, she’s still a bitch. On a side note, it’s really weird when people cut promos and don’t look into the camera.

Samoa Joe vs Kevin Owens

This was a good “tv” match. They had a good back and forth match but didn’t leave it all in the ring because this is just the first chapter of their story. The match ended when they battled outside of the ring and the ref got squashed in between the two and signaled for the bell. After the bell, they continued to fight and had to be separated.
